About the Lift
There’s this alarm button in the elevator of my apartment building which I find myself looking at it a little bit too often… because I do not know what to do when I have the urge to press it, exactly.
We’re all trying to find our way through to our ultimate destination; the path we were Made to take, but very few get it right the first time around. In life’s journey, we have our ups and downs… and sometimes we get stuck in between, with no idea how to get out.
We may jam our fist into the walls and hurt ourselves but probably save us from internal injury; We may look at the panel for limited but safe options, or we may take a risk and climb out the elevator shaft. After awhile, whether we want to or not, we all learn how to deal, one way or another.
This is my journey In The Lift.

In The Lift
You’re moving but somehow, you’re not.
You’re going somewhere but somehow, you’re not.
Sometimes you go Up; sometimes you go Down.
You get pauses from time to time that are outside your control;
They can be exasperating, or a relief, depending on how you choose to see it.
Some might not have experienced it, but a lot of people do,
Is that from time to time, you get stuck in between.
There’s this button I do not understand.
When it says “Alarm”, should I be alarmed?
When it says “Help”, can I cry for help?
When it says “Stop”… do I get to say Stop?
Now I see this button, and I don’t understand.
In this small space, when everything stays still;
There’s nowhere to go… trapped.
Is there still air?
Tell me, Should I exhale, or should I scream.
* the word 呼 can mean either.
